Information flow control regulates where information is allowed to travel within a network and between interconnected networks. The flow of all network traffic must be monitored and controlled so it does not introduce any unacceptable risk to the network infrastructure or data.
Review the Voice Video call control policy (dial plan) for controlling the flow of information within the system. Within the DoD, highest priority must be given to routing calls via DoD networks first, service providers second, and other higher-cost WAN connections last. Least cost routing must be implemented within the Voice Video system. Additionally, each site must have appropriate connection approval to be included in the DISN Voice Services dial plan. If the Voice Video call control policy for controlling the flow of information within the system is not fully documented, this is a finding.
Document the Voice Video call control policy (dial plan) for controlling the flow of information within the system as part of the Voice Video access control plan. Highest priority must be given to routing calls via DoD networks first, service providers second, and other higher-cost WAN connections last. Least-cost routing must be implemented.
