SV-40672r1_rule Internet Explorer Processes for Restrict File Download must be enforced (Reserved).

Vulnerability discussion

In certain circumstances, web sites can initiate file download prompts without interaction from users. This technique can allow web sites to put unauthorized files on user's hard drives if they click the wrong button and accept the download. If you configure the Restrict File Download\Internet Explorer Processes policy setting to Enabled, file download prompts that are not user-initiated are blocked for Internet Explorer processes. If you configure this policy setting as Disabled, prompting will occur for file downloads that are not user-initiated for Internet Explorer processes. Note: This setting is configured as Enabled in all environments specified in this guide to help prevent attackers from placing arbitrary code on users' computers.

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
