Vulnerability discussion

Access to memory and privileged program dumps running Trusted Control Block (TCB) key 0-7 may hold passwords, encryption keys, or other sensitive data that should not be made available. Failure to properly control access to these facilities could result in unauthorized personnel modifying sensitive z/OS lists. This exposure may threaten the integrity and availability of the operating system environment, and compromise the confidentiality of customer data.

Refer to the following report produced by the Data Set and Resource Data Collection: - SENSITVE.RPT(WHOHIBMF) Automated Analysis Refer to the following report produced by the Data Set and Resource Data Collection: - PDI(ACP00260) Ensure the DEFPROT attribute is specified for the IBMFAC resource class in the RDT and/or that IEAABD. resource is owned. Ensure that the IEAABD.DMPAUTH. resource with access of READ being available to all users. Ensure that the IEAABD.DMPAUTH. resource with access of UPDATE is restricted to only systems personnel and that all access is logged. Ensure that the IEAABD.DMPAKEY. resource with any access is restricted to only systems personnel and that all access is logged.

Fix text

Memory and privileged program dump resources are provided via resources in the IBMFAC resource class. The IAO will ensure that IEAABD resources in the IBMFAC resource class are properly owned or at a minimum the IBMFAC resource in the RDT specifies the DEFPROT attribute. The actual owning ACID specified for deptacid is to be named in accordance with installation recommendations. When protecting the facilities for dumps lists via the IBMFAC class, use the following controls: If DEFPROT is specified in the IBMFAC RDT the following command examples are not required. To prevent access to these resources create generic and specific profiles. The following command is provided for example only: TSS ADDTO(deptacid) IBMFAC(IEAABD.) No access will be given to IEAABD. IEAABD.DMPAUTH. access READ can be made available to all users. IEAABD.DMPAUTH. access UPDATE will be restricted to system programming personnel and access will be logged. IEAABD.DMPAKEY. access will be restricted to system programming personnel and access will be logged. Example: TSS PERMIT(ALL) IBMFAC(IEAABD.DMPAUTH.) ACCESS(READ) TSS PERMIT(syspaudt) IBMFAC(IEAABD.DMPAUTH.) ACCESS(UPDATE) ACTION(AUDIT) TSS PERMIT(syspaudt) IBMFAC(IEAABD.DMPAKEY.) ACCESS(READ) ACTION(AUDIT)

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
