SV-21770r1_rule VVoIP core components use random address assignment via DHCP and are not statically addressed

Vulnerability discussion

Assigning static addresses to core VVoIP devices permits tighter control using ACLs on firewalls and routers to help in the protection of these devices.NOTE: In the event DHCP is used for address assignment, ensure the DHCP server assigns the same address to the core VVoIP device each time one is requested.

Check content

Inspect the configurations of the VVoIP core components to confirm they are statically addressed. In the event the core VVoIP device is configured to use DHCP, inspect the configuration of the DHCP server to validate that it provides the same IP address for each given core device when requested.

Fix text

Ensure the VVoIP core components are statically addressed and do not use DHCP to obtain a randomly assigned address Do not use DHCP to assign IP addresses to V-VoIP core devices; Configure each device with a specific IP address OR If DHCP must be used, configure the DHCP server to provide the same IP address to each specific VVoIP system core device when requested

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
