The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit can enable several mechanisms, such as Data Execution Prevention (DEP), Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR), and Structured Exception Handler Overwrite Protection (SEHOP) on the system and applications adding additional levels of protection.

Check content

This is applicable to unclassified systems, for other systems this is NA. If EMET has not been installed and DEP and SEHOP are configured as required in V-68843 and V-68847, this is NA. If the following registry value does not exist or is not configured as specified, this is a finding. Registry Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Registry Path: \SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EMET\SysSettings\ Value Name: DEP Type: REG_DWORD Value: 2 (Application Opt Out) Applications that do not function properly due to this setting, and are opted out, must be documented with the ISSO.

Click "Settings" in the "Performance" section. Select the "Data Execution Prevention" tab. Select "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:". Applications that are opted out are configured in the window below this selection.

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
