Vulnerability discussion

Strong sign-on must be used to protect a system. The PIN feature is limited to 4 numbers and caches the domain password in the system vault.

Check content

If the following registry value does not exist or is not configured as specified, this is a finding: Registry Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Subkey: \Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\ Value Name: AllowDomainPINLogon Type: REG_DWORD Value: 0

Fix text

Configure the policy value for Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon -> "Turn on PIN sign-in" to "Disabled".

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
