SV-989r2_rule The "at" daemon must not execute programs in, or subordinate to, world-writable directories.

Vulnerability discussion

If "at" programs are located in, or subordinate, to world-writable directories, they become vulnerable to removal and replacement by malicious users or system intruders.

Check content

List any "at" jobs on the system. Procedure: # ls /var/spool/cron/atjobs /var/spool/atjobs For each "at" job, determine which programs are executed. Procedure: # more Check the directory containing each program executed by "at" for world-writable permissions. Procedure: # ls -la If "at" executes programs in world-writable directories, this is a finding.

Fix text

Remove the world-writable permission from directories containing programs executed by "at". Procedure: # chmod o-w

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
