Vulnerability discussion

Uncontrolled system updates can introduce issues to a system. Obtaining update components from an outside source may also potentially allow sensitive information outside of the enterprise. Application updates must be obtained from an internal source.

Configure the policy value for Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Store -> "Turn off Automatic Download of updates on Win8 machines" or "Turn off Automatic Download and install of updates" to "Enabled". Windows 2012: Configure the policy value for Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Store -> "Turn off Automatic Download of updates" to "Enabled".

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
