Associated with IA controls: DCPR-1

SV-14985r1_rule DoD client workstations/laptops, used for DoD official business, interact or connect (to include remote access) to a Zone D system or network.

Vulnerability discussion

Permitted activities in Zone D environments include, but are not limited to, extensive testing using tools not otherwise permitted, working with potential malicious code, working with PPSs that are otherwise restricted via DoD policy, and research. All of the aforementioned activities could compromise a DoD client and potentially a DoD network. Unacceptable activities include development work and network access to DoD production systems or networks.

Check content

Review the Connection Approval Process and remote access process/procedures to ensure production DoD clients - those that perform DoD official business, to include workstations and laptops, to not communicate or connect in any way to a Zone D environment or system. Zone D system connectivity may only be achieved via a non-production system.

Fix text

The IAO will ensure DoD client workstations/laptops, used for DoD official business, do not interact or connect in any way (to include remote access) to a Zone D system.

Pro Tips

Lavender hyperlinks in small type off to the right (of CSS class id, if you view the page source) point to globally unique URIs for each document and item. Copy the link location and paste anywhere you need to talk unambiguously about these things.

You can obtain data about documents and items in other formats. Simply provide an HTTP header Accept: text/turtle or Accept: application/rdf+xml.
